The Feeling of Transformation

We've all experienced change in our lives at one point or another. We're human. Change is a natural part of life, and thank goodness for that, otherwise life would be pretty boring.

But transformation is something different than change, something beyond. I like to think of transformation not so much as changing but as REMEMBERING who we really are.

(A concept introduced to me by two of my mentors, the incredible ladies of Kairos Healers Academy, Ina Lukas & Janet Raftis)

As children, before the world scrapes our knees or dulls our dreams, we are unbothered by things like insecurities, self judgment, or limitations around our own potential. We believe that we can do and be anything. Our worldview, though lacking experience, is vast and expansive. We have peace of mind, big ideas, the confidence to dress like a clown or a princess if we feel like it, and the ability to act upon our desires.

I believe transformation is remembering that feeling and applying it to our adult lives. Living our lives freely, enjoying the little things, loving ourselves fully, and finding the balance between forward action and peaceful rest. I understand this sounds easier said than done...

Transformation is not for the faint of heart but for the brave. For those that have the courage to look in the mirror, not with judgement, but with love.

Had you told me years ago that one day I'd be looking in the mirror with adoring eyes I would have thought you were crazy. And sadly that's the norm. Most of us spend so much time wishing we were something or someone other than who we are and I get that, I've been there. I think about the way that I used to speak to myself or think about myself, and I can't help thinking how a little self-compassion would have gone a long way.

Today I see I have much to learn still, and I hope to always keep learning and stretching, but I also recognize I am an entirely different person.

I finally feel like I am the person I said I would be.

I just celebrated 5 years in business earning much more than I could have imagined back when I first started designing logos in my parents' kitchen. I am also celebrating 7 years since donating a kidney and enjoying quality time with my sister who might no longer be around if it weren't for the magic of medicine and miracles. I am engaged to a beautiful person who loves me to bacon bits. I am traveling the world with a new destination every three months. I am enjoying the beach with my family. I've reduced my dairy intake significantly (which is hard for me because I love anything with cheese!) I no longer obsess over stretch marks or cellulite. I am doing meaningful work that I absolutely love with incredible clients committed to their transformation. And I am practicing more self care than ever before.

I share this not to brag, but to offer you some sort of evidence that TRANSFORMATION IS POSSIBLE. I am literally living proof!

After a long time of working crazy hours, being held back by my own fear, yearning to meet certain financial goals, I reached a point in my life where I couldn't help but wonder if there was MORE out there, more life that I could be living, and the answer was YES.

And so I ask you, do you fee like there is more life that you could be living? Do you feel stuck, sluggish, dull? Or perhaps you feel pretty good about some areas of your life and not so great about others...

What would transformation look like for you?

I often say that the best investment I have ever made was in myself. I figured that if cauliflower can be turned into pizza, why couldn't I become the super star of my own life? Call me cheesy, I don't mind. I whole-heartedly believe in the power of transformation, the benefits of being true to yourself, and the magic of DESIGNING and LIVING the life of your dreams.
